Participate in a Hawaii rainforest renewable energy venture.

The 89-acre property is owned fee-simple. The 25-acre clearing has scattered shade trees and can be enlarged by harvesting invasive trees. Project expansion options provide the flexibility to increase the output of the facility at a later point in time. The clearing was long-ago cleared for agricultural purposes, so is unlikely to contain any endangered species or historical preservation site, thereby minimizing environmental review costs. Specialists have toured the property and identified no cultural site or endangered species critical habitat.
The property has two widely-separated highway entrances. There are gated roads at those entrances, allowing for an industrial operation to maintain its own entrance without interrupting the use of the remaining acreage. Facilities can be placed within sight of Highway 130 or set back behind the forest. A renewable energy developer could use the property to assist Hawai`i in meeting its clean transportation goals.
The property is in the Kilauea East Rift Zone, heated by an active volcano. It is in a designated geothermal resource subzone.
The property contains six poles where renewable energy generators could feed into the electricity transmission system. That allows for three different renewable energy facilities to provide ratepayers with the benefits of diversity.
The site is zoned for agriculture. There is no predominantly-downwind human population, thus reducing noise mitigation costs, increasing efficiencies through uninterrupted drilling, and preventing damages caused by intermittent drilling. It is at least ten miles from any shore.
Biomass grows quickly in the warm Hawaii rainforest with a year-round growing season. It rains practically every day, minimizing water costs. Workers may enjoy a view of mountains, swim in the lava-warmed coastal waters ten miles away and visit an erupting volcano twenty miles away. Internet and cell phone services are fair to good.
As a limited liability company, the landowner can hold an interest in project development, thereby minimizing land acquisition costs. Each managing member of the LLC receives an equal dividend from profits, thereby minimizing start-up costs while maximizing cooperation and financing efficiencies. The membership provides mechanical and human factors engineering as well as ergonomics. The membership can assist with the analysis of environmental stress and biological, chemical and radiation safety. In the long term, these provisions improve the operation and maintenance of facilities. The membership can also ...
plan, design, conduct, analyze and report feasibility studies.
review and specify those portions of the Facility which allow operation or maintenance.
provide shared energy storage facilities.
write and present operations reports.
apply for permits, licenses, approvals, certificates, entitlements and other authorizations issued by Governmental Authorities required for the construction, ownership and operation of the Facility.
maintain a line-of-sight between communications endpoints.
maintain existing structures and available space to house radio equipment and to locate antenna towers/structures.
assist with rainforest conservation and land restoration.
assist in site preparation and environmental impact study.
preserve and maintain existing aesthetic/visual areas.
maintain roads and site access.
coordinate maintenance schedules.
provide flexibility in acquisition dates, acquisition pricing, and other features.
